dc.description.abstractI am very pleased to take this opportunity to express, as one of the very few "survivors" of the 1958 Law of the Sea Conference in Geneva, my personal views on recent developments in the law of the sea. In a world where human needs are expanding rapidly, the importance of developing an appropriate international legal regime for managing the food and mineral resources of the world's oceans cannot be overestimated.
