dc.description.abstractFrom the Founding to the Millennium, the Constitution has often proved more enlightened and enlightening than the case law glossing it. The millennial year itself has exemplified this general pattern. Indeed, the year's prominent Court decisions and political controversies provide a rather nice set of detailed case studies allowing us to measure the document against the doctrine.
