dc.description.abstract | IN the course of preparing our article upon the Federal Loyalty Order the authors wrote to Mr. Hoover and requested him to furnish all available materials relating to the methods employed by the FBI in making investigations under the loyalty program. Mr. Hoover supplied us with certain materials, primarily his press statement published in the New York Herald-Tribune on November 16, 1947. On the basis of these materials, together with other available data, we set forth in the article the FBI's position regarding its functions and methods of operation under the program. Mr. Hoover's letter to the Yale Law Journal, except in one notable particular to be considered shortly, adds nothing of substance to his previous statements summarized in the article. | |
