dc.description.abstract | EUGENE V. ROSTOW (1913 – 2002) served as dean of the Yale Law School from 1955 until 1965 and became Sterling Professor of Law and Public Affairs in 1984. A 1933 graduate of Yale College, he received an LL.B from Yale Law School in 1937 and was editorin- chief of The Yale Law Journal. Rostow served as the State Department Under Secretary for Political Affairs from 1966 to 1969 and director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency during the Reagan administration. Among Rostow’s books are Planning for Freedom (1959); The Sovereign Prerogative (1962); Law, Power, and the Pursuit of Peace (1968); The Ideal in Law (1978); A Breakfast for Bonaparte (1993). Note: this interview was intended to be the first of three. Unfortunately, Eugene Rostow was not well enough to sit for further meetings. | |
