| dc.description.abstract | Harry Hillel Wellington (1926–2011) served as the twelfth dean of Yale Law School, from 1975 to 1985. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1952. He clerked for Court of Appeals Judge Calvert Magruder and for U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Felix Frankfurter. Wellington joined the Yale Law School faculty in 1956 and was named the Edward J. Phelps Professor of Law in 1967. He became Sterling Professor in 1983. From 1992 to 2000, he was dean of the New York Law School. Among Wellington’s publications are The Least Dangerous Branch: The Supreme Court at the Bar of Politics with Alexander Bickel (1986); Interpreting the Constitution: The Supreme Court and the Process of Adjudication (1990); and numerous articles. | |
