dc.description.abstractBORIS BITTKER (1916-2005) was a member of the Yale Law School faculty from 1946 until his retirement in 1983 and was named Sterling Professor of Law in 1970. A graduate of Cornell (1938) and Yale Law School (1941), Bittker clerked for Judge Jerome Frank of the U.S. Court of Appeals. He was an attorney in the Lend Lease Administration in Washington, D.C. and received a purple heart for service during World War II. Bittker published widely in the field of taxation, and among other important works, wrote The Case for Black Reparations (1973).
