Abstract
Almost from its inception, the Constitution enjoyed a measure of prestige and respect unique in world history. This enthusiasm for the Constitution was replaced by immense cynicism upon the publication of Charles Beard's famous and enormously influential book, An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States, which provides the focus for this issue of the George Washington Law Review.
