Abstract
In this paper I examine the positive effects atheism would have in a constitutional democracy and defend a secular view of the State. Such view will partly differ both from the American model and the French laïcité (at least the version expressed in discussions surrounding the prohibition of headscarves and burkas).[1] [1]An even more extreme case would be the model favored by Querétaro’s Mexican Constitution of 1917.
