Abstract
Hartford?, 1844. 1 sheet (1 page) : illustration (woodcut) ; 48 x 8 cm. Illustration depicts a debtor being taken the to prison by an official and a crying woman is holding on to the official's shoulder. First line of text reads: in 1837, when the democrats were in power in this State, they passed a bill abolishing imprisonment for debt. Printed beneath the illustration is John Greenleaf Whittier's poem "The Prisoner for Debt."
