The Common Law of the United States

Corbin, Arthur
Abstract
"There is no federal general common law." True, beyond doubt, in the sense that there is no system of universal general rules and principles, no "brooding omnipresence in the sky." In view of the action of the court in overruling Swift v. Tyson, it may now be pertinent to ask whether there is a "Pennsylvania general common law." Is there an omnipresence brooding over the state of Pennsylvania?
